{"id":194,"date":"2014-02-17T09:56:17","date_gmt":"2014-02-17T14:56:17","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/brewitright.com\/wordpress\/?p=194"},"modified":"2014-02-17T09:56:17","modified_gmt":"2014-02-17T14:56:17","slug":"land-of-pils","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/brewitright.com\/wordpress\/2014\/02\/17\/land-of-pils\/","title":{"rendered":"Land of Pils"},"content":{"rendered":"<figure id=\"attachment_195\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-195\" style=\"width: 350px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"http:\/\/brewitright.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/02\/pils.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" wp-image-195 \" alt=\"Poutnik Sv\u011btl\u00fd Le\u017e\u00e1k\" src=\"http:\/\/brewitright.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/02\/pils.jpg\" width=\"350\" height=\"433\" srcset=\"http:\/\/brewitright.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/02\/pils.jpg 500w, http:\/\/brewitright.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/02\/pils-242x300.jpg 242w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 350px) 100vw, 350px\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-195\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Poutnik Sv\u011btl\u00fd Le\u017e\u00e1k<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>While recently in the Czech Republic, Brew It Right\u2122 was clearly required to sample various Moravian brews and provide a full report.\u00a0 This task was not taken lightly and required considerable sacrifice and concentration.\u00a0 Obviously, almost all of the beer in Czech pubs are lagers, so you&#8217;ll find a precious few taps pouring ale unless it&#8217;s a hefeweizen.<\/p>\n<p>First, a glossary:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Le\u017e\u00e1k &#8211; <em>lager<\/em><\/li>\n<li>Sv\u011btl\u00fd &#8211; <em>light<\/em><\/li>\n<li>P\u0161eni\u010dn\u00e9 &#8211; <em>wheat (usually hefeweizen)<\/em><\/li>\n<li>Pivovar &#8211; <em>brewery<\/em><\/li>\n<li>\u010cern\u00e9 &#8211; <em>black, meaning dark or dunkel<\/em><\/li>\n<li>Tmav\u00fd<em> &#8211; dark; see \u010cern\u00e9<\/em><\/li>\n<li>Kvasnicov\u00fd &#8211; <em>yeasty, unfiltered<\/em><\/li>\n<li>Polotmav\u00fd &#8211; <em>amber or gold<\/em><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Copy this list to your phone and take it with you.\u00a0 Or just do what we did; order one of everything on the list and try it.\u00a0 You might be pleasantly surprised.<\/p>\n<p><strong>The Standout<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>While the local <a href=\"http:\/\/www.starobrno.cz\">Starobrno brewery<\/a> is great and their Starobrno \u010cern\u00e9 is (in our opinion) one of the better tasting regional brews in Moravia, the brewery is actually owned by Heineken.
